On July 2d, in company with the rest of the One Hundred and Fifty-fifth, on Little Round Top, he bravely did his duty in that terrible encounter. It was not so destructive in casualties as it might have been, the Confederate gunners failing to secure the proper range, and, as in the previous bombardments, the shells went so far over the heads of those on Little Round Top as to do practically no harm.
